Chapter 72 — Royal Duty: protection of subjects, taxation, punishment, and appointments

यो हि दोग्ध्रीमुपास्ते च स नित्यं विन्दते पय: । एवं राष्ट्रमुपायेन भुज्जानो लभते फलम्‌,जो दूध देनेवाली गायकी प्रतिदिन सेवा करता है, वही दूध पाता है; इसी प्रकार उचित उपायसे राष्ट्रकी रक्षा करनेवाला राजा ही उससे लाभ उठाता है

yo hi dogdhrīm upāste ca sa nityaṁ vindate payaḥ | evaṁ rāṣṭram upāyena bhuñjāno labhate phalam ||

Wika ni Bhishma: Ang tanging taong araw-araw na nag-aalaga at naglilingkod sa bakang nagbibigay-gatas ang siyang nakakakuha ng gatas. Gayon din, ang haring nagtatanggol at namamahala sa kaharian sa wastong paraan lamang ang tunay na nakikinabang sa bunga nito.
