Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order (दण्डनीतिः राजधर्मश्च युगकारणत्वम्)
ऋतवश्व सुखा: सर्वे भवन्त्युत निरामया: । प्रसीदन्ति नराणां च स्वरवर्णमनांसि च,सभी ऋतुएँ सुखदायिनी और आरोग्य बढ़ानेवाली होती हैं। मनुष्योंके स्वर, वर्ण और मन स्वच्छ एवं प्रसन्न होते हैं
ṛtavaśva sukhāḥ sarve bhavanty uta nirāmayāḥ | prasīdanti narāṇāṃ ca svaravarṇamanāṃsi ca ||
Wika ni Bhīṣma: “Kapag ang mga panahon ay tumatakbo sa nararapat na ayos, ang lahat ng ito’y nagiging kaaya-aya at nakapagpapalusog. Kung magkagayon, sa mga tao, luminaw ang tinig at kutis, at ang isip ay nagiging payapa at masaya—mga tanda ng pagkakatugma ng kaayusan ng daigdig at kagalingan ng tao.”
भीष्म उवाच
Human flourishing is linked to the proper order of nature (ṛta): when the seasons are balanced and timely, they become pleasant and health-giving, and people’s voice, complexion, and minds become clear and content—an ethical reminder that good governance and right conduct should support harmony in the world.
In the Shanti Parva, Bhishma instructs Yudhishthira on dharma and the conditions of welfare. Here he describes the signs of a well-ordered world: favorable seasons and the resulting physical and mental well-being of people.
