गुप्त: स गौतमेनासीद् गड्रगकूलेडभिरक्षित: । दथिवाहनका पौत्र और दिविरथका पुत्र भी गड़ातटपर महर्षि गौतमके द्वारा सुरक्षित है
guptaḥ sa gautamenāsīd gaḍragakūleḍabhirakṣitaḥ | dadhivāhanakā pautraḥ divirathakā putro 'pi gaḍātaṭapara maharṣiṇā gautamena rakṣitaḥ ||
Sinabi ni Vāsudeva: “Nanatili siyang nakatago at pinangalagaan ng pantas na si Gautama, binantayan sa gitna ng mga tao ng angkang Gaḍraga. Ang inapo ni Dadhivāhana—na anak din ni Diviratha—ay iningatan ni Maharṣi Gautama sa pampang ng ilog Gaḍā.”
वासुदेव उवाच
The verse underscores dharma as protective responsibility: a sage upholds righteousness by sheltering and safeguarding someone endangered, showing that moral duty can include discreet protection and refuge.
Vāsudeva recounts that a certain person of royal lineage (descendant of Dadhivāhana and son of Diviratha) was kept hidden and protected by Maharṣi Gautama on the bank of the Gaḍā river, under the guard of the Gaḍraga people.
