एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु कृतवीर्यात्मजो बली । अर्जुनो नाम तेजस्वी क्षत्रियो हैहयाधिप:,इसी समय राजा कृतवीर्यका बलवान पुत्र अर्जुन हैहयवंशका राजा हुआ, जो एक तेजस्वी क्षत्रिय था

etasminn eva kāle tu kṛtavīryātmajo balī | arjuno nāma tejasvī kṣatriyo haihayādhipaḥ ||

Sa mismong panahong iyon, lumitaw si Arjuna—ang makapangyarihang anak ni Haring Kṛtavīrya—isang kṣatriya na maningning, at naging pinuno ng angkang Haihaya. Itinatakda ng salaysay ang pag-usbong ng isang malakas na hari, bilang likurang aral kung paanong ang lakas ng pagkamaharlika at kapangyarihang nakasandig sa lahi ay humuhubog sa landas ng dharma sa daigdig.
