Shloka 9

अहं कस्य कुतो वापि कः को मे ह भवेदिति । प्रयोजनमतिर्नित्यमेवं मोक्षाश्रमे वसेत्‌

ahaṁ kasya kuto vāpi kaḥ ko me ha bhaved iti | prayojanamatiḥ nityam evaṁ mokṣāśrame vaset ||

Wika ni Bhishma: “Kanino ba ako nabibilang? Saan ako nagmula? Sino, sa katotohanan, ang akin? Ano ang layunin ng buhay na ito?” Ang isang nagtalikod sa daigdig ay dapat manahan sa āśrama ng paglaya, na ang isip ay laging nakatuon sa ganitong pagsisiyasat—nabubuhay sa matatag na pagninilay na lumuluwag sa pagkapit at humahantong sa kalayaan.
