The verse teaches that the Vedas function as the highest instrument of discernment (vision), the deepest source of strength, and the ultimate refuge, culminating in the recognition of the Vedas as pointing to (and being identified with) the supreme Brahman. Ethically, it frames right conduct and right understanding as grounded in authoritative sacred knowledge.
Within the Shānti Parva’s reflective discourse, a statement attributed to Brahmā praises the Vedas as his supreme support and highest reality. The passage reinforces the text’s broader post-war emphasis on stabilizing society and the individual through dharma grounded in revealed wisdom.
