धर्मस्य बहुद्वारत्वम् — Nārada’s Audience with Indra (Śānti-parva 340)
जगौ परमकं जप्यं नारायणमुदीरयन् | जो हमारे परमगुरु मुनिवर श्रीकृष्णद्वैपायन व्यास हैं, वे भी परम उत्तम नारायणमन्त्रका जप करते हुए निरन्तर उनकी महिमाका गान करते रहते हैं
vaiśampāyana uvāca | jagau paramakaṃ japyaṃ nārāyaṇam udīrayan |
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “Sa pagbigkas ng pangalang Nārāyaṇa, inawit niya ang kataas-taasang banal na pormula—ang pinakadapat ulit-ulitin sa japa. Ang diwa nito: maging ang pinakadakilang guro—ang pantas na si Śrī Kṛṣṇa Dvaipāyana Vyāsa—ay patuloy na nagsasagawa ng japa ng dakilang Nārāyaṇa-mantra at walang humpay na nagpupuri sa Kanyang kadakilaan, sapagkat ang debosyon at pag-alaala ang itinuturing na pinakamataas na disiplina.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse elevates japa and stuti of Nārāyaṇa as a supreme spiritual practice: even the foremost sage-teacher (Vyāsa) is portrayed as continually repeating the Nārāyaṇa-mantra and singing His glory, implying that steady remembrance and devotion are central to dharma and inner discipline.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that the speaker/subject is reciting Nārāyaṇa’s name and singing a supreme mantra-worthy utterance; the accompanying sense highlights Vyāsa’s constant practice of Nārāyaṇa-japa and praise, reinforcing the devotional atmosphere within Śānti Parva’s teachings.
