(Inquiry into Ekāntin Dharma) / The Origin and Practice of Single-Pointed Nārāyaṇa-Centered Discipline
A ruler gains legitimacy through the esteem of the virtuous and should ground all public action in śāstra-guided dharma; devotion to the teacher/elder (here Bhīṣma) supports disciplined, principled governance.
Bhīṣma, instructing on dharma and statecraft in Śānti Parva, describes the ideal outcome for a king: respected by good people, devoted to Bhīṣma’s guidance, and committed to performing all duties according to the prescribed śāstric framework.
