Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)
साहं मानप्रदानेन वागातिथ्येन चार्चिता । सुप्ता सुशरणं प्रीता श्वो गमिष्यामि मैथिल,आपने मुझे बड़ा सम्मान दिया। अपनी वाणीरूप आतिथ्यके द्वारा मेरा भलीभाँति सत्कार किया। मिथिलानरेश! अब मैं प्रसन्नतापूर्वक आपके शरीररूपी सुन्दर गृहमें सोकर कल सबेरे यहाँसे चली जाऊँगी
sāhaṃ mānapradānena vāgātithyena cārcitā | suptā suśaraṇaṃ prītā śvo gamiṣyāmi maithila ||
Wika ni Bhishma: “Pinarangalan mo ako sa iyong handog ng paggalang, at tinanggap sa pamamagitan ng pagkamapagpatuloy ng iyong maririkit na salita; kaya ako’y nasiyahan. Matapos makapagpahinga nang ligtas sa iyong mainam na kanlungan, O hari ng Mithila, bukas ay aalis ako mula rito.”
भीष्य उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic etiquette: honouring a guest through respect (māna) and gracious speech (vāg-ātithya). True hospitality is not only material provision but also courteous words and a sense of secure refuge.
The speaker expresses gratitude to the king of Mithila for respectful reception and verbal hospitality, states that she will rest safely under his shelter, and announces her departure the next day.
