Śukasya Janma-yoga-phalaṁ — Vyāsasya Tapasā Putrārthaḥ (Śānti-parva 310)
एतानि नव सर्गाणि तत्त्वानि च नराधिप । चतुर्विशतिरुक्तानि यथाश्रुतिनिदर्शनात्,नरेश्वर! ये नौ सर्ग और चौबीस तत्त्व श्रुतिके निर्देशके अनुसार यहाँ बताये गये हैं
etāni nava sargāṇi tattvāni ca narādhipa | caturviśatir uktāni yathāśruti-nidarśanāt, nareśvara ||
Wika ni Yājñavalkya: “O hari, ang siyam na ‘paglikha’ na ito at ang mga simulain (tattva) ay ipinahayag na dalawampu’t apat ang bilang, alinsunod sa mga pahiwatig ng śruti—ang kapahayagang Veda.”
