Śuka’s Nirveda: Vyāsa’s Admonition on Dharma, Impermanence, and ‘Imperishable Wealth’ (अक्षय-धन)
तेजसा शक्यते प्राप्तुमुपाय: सहचारिणा । इह च प्रेत्य च श्रेयस्तस्य मूल धृति: परा
tejasā śakyate prāptum upāyaḥ sahacāriṇā | iha ca pretya ca śreyas tasya mūlaṃ dhṛtiḥ parā ||
Wika ni Bhīṣma: Sa lakas at impluwensiya ng mararangal na kasamahan, makakamit ng tao ang angkop na paraan (upāya) na nagdudulot ng kagalingan sa mundong ito at maging pagkamatay. Ang ugat ng gayong kagalingan ay ang dakilang dhṛti—katatagan at tibay ng isip.
भीष्म उवाच
Association with the virtuous empowers a person to find effective means for true welfare, but the decisive foundation of that welfare is parā-dhṛti—steady, disciplined firmness of mind.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma continues advising on righteous living and inner discipline, emphasizing the value of good company and the central role of mental steadfastness for lasting good.
