Adhyāya 283: Varṇa-vṛtti, Nyāya-ārjana, and the Decline-and-Restoration of Dharma (वर्णवृत्तिः न्यायार्जनं च)

जरायुजाण्डजाश्वैव सहसा स्वेदजोद्धिजै: । ये तथा और भी बहुत-से चतुर्विध प्राणिसमुदाय जरायुज, अण्डज, स्वेदज और उद्भिज्ज वहाँ उपस्थित हुए थे

jarāyujāṇḍajāś caiva sahasā svedajodbhijaiḥ | ye tathā cāpare bahavaś caturvidha-prāṇi-samudāyā jarāyujā aṇḍajāḥ svedajā ud्भिजjāś ca tatra samupasthitā āsan ||

Wika ni Vaiśampāyana: Naroon din, biglaang nagtipon ang apat na uri ng mga nilalang—yaong isinilang sa sinapupunan, yaong mula sa itlog, yaong mula sa pawis o halumigmig, at yaong sumisibol mula sa lupa—kasama pa ang marami pang ibang pangkat na tulad nila. Ipinahihiwatig ng salaysay ang napakalawak at mapagkalingang kaayusan ng buhay, kung saan ang bawat paraan ng pagsilang ay nagkakatipon sa iisang daigdig ng katarungan at asal.
