Livelihood, Virtuous Association, and Ethics of Giving

Educational Q&A

Even divine beings act through consultation and proper authorization: collective resolve (saṅgati) and deference to higher spiritual authority (Mahadeva’s assent) frame action within dharma, especially in sacred contexts like yajña and tīrtha.

Bhishma reports a traditional account: the gods, led by Indra, decide to attend Daksha’s sacrifice and travel in brilliant vimanas; after obtaining Mahadeva’s permission, they proceed to Gangadvara (Haridwar).
