Livelihood, Virtuous Association, and Ethics of Giving
The passage underscores reverence toward the divine—Mahādeva is portrayed as perpetually worthy of honor by gods and sages—while also emphasizing that ritual action (yajña) should be undertaken according to established śāstric procedure, linking devotion with disciplined observance of dharma.
Bhīṣma describes Mahādeva residing in constant splendor, honored by celestial beings. Then the scene shifts: after some time Dakṣa Prajāpati decides to perform a sacrifice following the earlier-described rites and begins the preparations, setting up the well-known Dakṣa-yajña episode.
