पापात्म-धर्मात्म-लक्षणम् तथा निर्वेदेन मोक्षमार्गः | Marks of the Sinful and the Righteous; Dispassion (Nirveda) as a Path to Liberation
आशिषस्ता भजन्त्येनं परुषं प्राह यत् पिता । निष्कृति: सर्वपापानां पिता यच्चाभिनन्दति,'पिता पुत्रसे यदि कुछ कठोर बातें कह देता है तो वे आशीर्वाद बनकर उसे अपना लेती हैं और पिता यदि पुत्रका अभिनन्दन करता है--मीठे वचन बोलकर उसके प्रति प्यार और आदर दिखाता है तो इससे पुत्रके सम्पूर्ण पापोंका प्रायश्चित्त हो जाता है
āśiṣastā bhajanty enaṃ paruṣaṃ prāha yat pitā | niṣkṛtiḥ sarvapāpānāṃ pitā yaccābhinandati ||
Wika ni Bhīṣma: “Kahit magsalita nang mabagsik ang ama, tinatanggap iyon ng anak na parang pagpapala. At kapag ipinahayag ng ama ang pagsang-ayon—ipinapakita ang pag-ibig at dangal sa pamamagitan ng matatamis na salita—nagiging pagtubos iyon sa lahat ng kasalanan ng anak.”
