अपन क्राता छा अर: चतुर्विशो$ध्याय: व्यासजीका युधिष्ठिरको राजा हयग्रीवका चरित्र सुनाकर उन्हें राजोचित कर्तव्यका पालन करनेके लिये जोर देना वैशम्पायन उवाच पुनरेव महर्षिस्तं कृष्णद्वैपायनो मुनि: । अजातशत्रुं कौन्तेयमिदं वचनमब्रवीत्‌

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: punar eva maharṣis taṃ kṛṣṇadvaipāyano muniḥ | ajātaśatruṃ kaunteyam idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||

Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Pagkaraan, muli na namang nagsalita ang dakilang rishi, ang pantas na si Kṛṣṇa-Dvaipāyana (Vyāsa), kay Ajātaśatru—si Yudhiṣṭhira, anak ni Kuntī—at winika ang mga salitang ito. Itinatakda ng salaysay ang muling pagtuturo ni Vyāsa sa hari, upang himukin siyang maging matatag sa pagtupad ng rājadharma, ang tungkuling panghari na nakaugat sa pagpipigil-sa-sarili at pananagutan.
