भूतानां जन्म सर्वेषां विविधानां चतुर्विधम् | जरायुजाण्डजोद्धिज्जस्वेदजं चोपलक्षयेत्
bhūtānāṃ janma sarveṣāṃ vividhānāṃ caturvidham | jarāyujāṇḍajodbhijja-svedajaṃ copalakṣayet |
Wika ni Vyāsa: Dapat pagmasdan na ang pagsilang ng lahat ng nilalang, sa kanilang sari-saring anyo, ay may apat na uri: yaong isinilang sa sinapupunan (jarāyuja), yaong napisa mula sa itlog (āṇḍaja), yaong umuusbong mula sa halumigmig/init (svedaja), at yaong tumutubo mula sa lupa (udbhijja). Ang pagninilay na ito’y nagpapalawak ng pag-unawa sa saṃsāra at humihikayat ng mapanuring, di-mapanakit na pagtingin sa lahat ng anyo ng buhay.
