Bali–Vāsava Dialogue on Kāla and Steadfastness

क्रव्याद्धय इव भूतानामदान्तेभ्य: सदा भयम्‌ | तेषां विप्रतिषेधार्थ राजा सृष्ट: स्वयम्भुवा

bhīṣma uvāca |

kravyāddhaya iva bhūtānām adāntebhyaḥ sadā bhayam |

teṣāṃ vipratiṣedhārthaṃ rājā sṛṣṭaḥ svayambhuvā ||

Wika ni Bhishma: “Mula sa mga hindi nakapipigil sa isip at mga pandama, ang lahat ng nilalang ay nabubuhay sa walang humpay na takot—gaya ng takot sa mababangis na hayop na kumakain ng laman. Kaya upang pigilan at supilin ang suwail na pagnanasa ng mga taong walang disiplina, iniluwal ng Sariling-Isinilang na Lumikha ang institusyon ng paghahari.”
