Vimokṣa-niścaya: Pañcaśikha’s Analysis of Aggregates, Guṇas, and Tyāga (मोक्षनिर्णयः)
सत्त्वस्थ: सात्त्विकान् भावान् शुद्धान् पश्यति संश्रित: । स देही विमल: श्रीमान् श्रद्धाविद्यासमन्वित:
sattvasthaḥ sāttvikān bhāvān śuddhān paśyati saṃśritaḥ | sa dehī vimalaḥ śrīmān śraddhāvidyāsamanvitaḥ ||
Sinabi ni Bhishma: “Ang taong nakatatag sa gunang sattva ay tanging malilinis na sāttvika na mga disposisyon ang nakikita at doon kumakapit. Ang may-katawang nilalang na gayon ay nagiging walang dungis at maningning, at higit sa lahat ay kinikilala sa pananampalataya at tunay na pag-unawa.”
भीष्म उवाच
Stability in sattva refines perception and choice: one naturally recognizes and adopts pure, wholesome mental states, becoming inwardly clean and outwardly radiant, with faith (śraddhā) and knowledge (vidyā) predominating.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on conduct and inner discipline, Bhīṣma continues teaching about the guṇas and character-formation, describing the marks of a person who abides in sattva.
