Restraint of the Senses, Non-harming Truthful Speech, and Discernment of Karmic Consequence
The verse reinforces disciplined, accurate transmission of sacred knowledge—Bhishma enumerates divine groups (Rudras and Vasus) in an orderly way, implying that right understanding of cosmic and theological categories supports dharmic clarity.
Bhishma, continuing his instruction in the Shanti Parva, names additional Rudras—Sāvitra, Jayanta, Pinākī, and Aparājita—and notes that the eight Vasus have already been listed earlier in the discourse.
