Adhyāya 159 — Dāna–Dakṣiṇā, Āpaddharma Measures, and Prāyaścitta Classifications

न त्रासिनो न चपला न रौद्रा: सत्यथे स्थिता: । ते सेव्या: साधुभिननित्य॑ येष्वहिंसा प्रतिेष्ठिता

na trāsino na capalā na raudrāḥ satyataye sthitāḥ | te sevyāḥ sādhubhir nityaṃ yeṣv ahiṃsā pratiṣṭhitā ||

Wika ni Bhīṣma: Yaong hindi nananakot sa kapwa, hindi pabagu-bago, at ang likas na ugali’y hindi marahas o nakapanghihilakbot—yaong nananatiling matatag alang-alang sa katotohanan, at sa kanila’y matibay na naitatag ang ahimsa (di-karahasan)—ang gayong mararangal na tao lamang ang dapat laging samahan at paglingkuran ng mga mabubuti.
