Educational Q&A

Pilgrimage—going to a holy region—is upheld by tradition as a powerful means of purification, and this is supported through authoritative exempla (a gāthā attributed to King Yayāti).

Śaunaka introduces a traditional verse (gāthā) sung by King Yayāti to illustrate and validate the claim that visiting sacred places is supremely purifying.
