Āśā-prabhava (आशाप्रभव) — On the Rise and Power of Hope/Expectation
Sumitra Itihāsa Begins
आत्मनस्तु ततः श्रेयो भार्गवात् सुमहातपा: । ज्ञानमागमयत् प्रीत्या पुन: स परमद्युति:,तब परम तेजस्वी महातपस्वी इन्द्रने प्रसन्नता-पूर्वक शुक्राचार्यसे पुन: अपने लिये श्रेयका ज्ञान प्राप्त किया
ātmanaḥ tu tataḥ śreyo bhārgavāt sumahātapāḥ | jñānam āgamayat prītyā punaḥ sa paramadyutiḥ ||
Pagkatapos, para sa kanyang sariling pinakamataas na kabutihan, ang dakilang ascetic na nagliliwanag sa sukdulang ningning ay muling lumapit, na may galak at paggalang, kay Bhārgava (Śukrācārya) at tumanggap ng kaalaman tungkol sa tunay na kapakinabangan. घतयाट्र उवाच
True welfare (śreyas) is gained through seeking right knowledge from a qualified teacher; even the mighty must return with humility and goodwill to learn what is beneficial for the self.
A supremely radiant, great ascetic (understood in context as Indra) again approaches Bhārgava (Śukrācārya) and, with pleased respect, obtains instruction about what is truly good for him.
