Nakula’s Counsel on Yajña, Dāna, and Tyāga (नकुलोपदेशः—यज्ञदानत्यागविचारः)

Renunciation is defined not merely by giving up possessions, but by disciplined self-mastery and by dedicating dharmically earned wealth to the highest sacred and ethical purposes (yajña), while keeping the mind under control.
In Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma after the war, Nakula addresses the king and offers a criterion for who should be regarded as a true tyāgī: one who uses righteous wealth for sacrificial/beneficial acts and maintains inner restraint.
