Vyāghra–Gomāyu Saṃvāda (व्याघ्रगोमायु संवाद) — Testing Character Beneath Appearances

आज्ञापयामास तदा गोमायुर्वध्यतामिति । ऐसा कहकर वे क्षणभरमें ही सियारके घरसे उस मांसको उठा लाये। मांसके अपहरणकी बात जानकर और उन सेवकोंकी बातें सुनकर शेरने उस समय यह आज्ञा दे दी कि सियारको प्राणदण्ड दे दिया जाय

ājñāpayāmāsa tadā gomāyur vadhyatām iti |

Sinabi ni Bhīṣma: Noon ay nag-utos ang leon, “Ipapatay ang asong-gubat.” Pagkasabi nito, agad na nagtungo ang mga alipin sa tirahan ng asong-gubat at ibinalik ang piraso ng karne. Nang malaman ng leon ang pagnanakaw ng karne at marinig ang ulat ng mga alipin, naglabas siya ng utos na ang asong-gubat ay tumanggap ng parusang kamatayan. Ipinakikita ng pangyayaring ito ang pananagutan ng hari na pangalagaan ang ipinagkatiwala at parusahan ang pagnanakaw, ngunit itinataas din ang tanong ng katarungan kung ang parusa ba ay naaayon sa bigat ng kasalanan.
