Kṣemadarśa–Kālakavṛkṣīya Saṃvāda: Counsel on Impermanence, Non-attachment, and Composure in Dispossession

इन्द्रियोंको संयममें रखो, मनको वशमें करो और वाणीका संयम करके मौन रहा करो। ये मन, वाणी और इन्द्रियाँ दुर्बल हों या अहितकारक, इन्हें विषयोंकी ओर जानेसे रोकनेवाला अपने सिवा दूसरा कोई नहीं है ।।

prāptisṛṣṭeṣu bhāveṣu vyapakṛṣṭeṣv asambhave | prajñānatṛpto vikrāntas tvadvidho nānuśocati ||

Wika ni Bhishma: Pigilin ang mga pandama, supilin ang isip, at disiplinahin ang pananalita hanggang sa manatili sa katahimikan. Ang isip, salita, at mga pandama—maging mahina man o nakapipinsala—walang ibang makapipigil sa mga ito na tumakbo sa mga bagay ng pagnanasa kundi ang sarili lamang. Kapag dumarating ang mga bunga ayon sa nararapat—may pakinabang man o pagkalugi, may tagumpay mang posible o imposible—ang taong tulad mo, na busog sa karunungan at matatag sa tapang, ay hindi lumulubog sa dalamhati.
