Verbal Duel and Omens
ततः समुपविष्टं तत् सुमहद्राजमण्डलम् । विराजमान ददृशे दिवीवादित्यमण्डलम्
tataḥ samupaviṣṭaṃ tat sumahad rājamaṇḍalam | virājamānaṃ dadṛśe divīvādityamaṇḍalam ||
Wika ni Sañjaya: “Pagkaraan, ang napakalaking bilog ng mga hari, nang sila’y makaupo na, ay nagmistulang maningning—gaya ng orb ng araw sa langit.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how collective political authority presents itself as radiant and unified; it implicitly contrasts outward splendor with the inner moral burden of decisions taken in wartime councils.
After the kings take their seats, Sañjaya describes the gathered royal assembly as shining brilliantly, comparing it to the sun’s disk in the sky.
