वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse contributes to the epic’s ethical atmosphere: as the Kurukṣetra slaughter reaches its height, the text signals that adharma and collective violence disturb the moral-cosmic order, reflected through the appearance/invocation of uncanny forces and ominous presences.
Vaiśampāyana enumerates specific named female beings—often understood as supernatural powers/spirits—within a broader description of fearful portents and otherworldly activity associated with the battlefield and the war’s culminating phase.
