इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत शल्यपर्वके अन्तर्गत गदापवरमें दुर्योधन-युधिष्ठिरसंवादविषयक इकतीसवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ

Transliteration

gadāyā tvāṃ mahābāho vijeṣyāmi sahānujam | mahābāho! gadayā bhātr̥bhiḥ saha tvāṃ pāñcālān sṛñjayāṃś ca ye cānye tava sainikāḥ tān api sarvān jayiṣyāmi | yudhiṣṭhira! mamendra-samād api kadācana na bhayaṃ bhavati ||

Translation

Ipinahayag ni Duryodhana kay Yudhiṣṭhira, sa yabang ng mandirigmang lasing sa pagmamataas: “O makapangyarihang bisig, sa aking pamalo ay tatalunin kita kasama ng iyong mga kapatid. Sa pamalong ito rin ay daraigin ko ang mga Pāñcāla, ang mga Sṛñjaya, at ang lahat pang hukbong kakampi mo. Yudhiṣṭhira, hindi ako kailanman natatakot—kahit kay Indra.” Ipinapakita ng pananalitang ito na ang tunggalian ay hindi na sukatang ayon sa dharma, kundi pagyayabang ng paghahari, at inilalantad kung paanong kayabangan at paghamak sa wastong pagpipigil ang nagtutulak sa huling karahasan ng digmaan.
