नातिप्रसिद्धेव गति: पाण्डवानामजायत । चारों ओर पर्वताकार विशालकाय हाथी पड़े थे, जो भीमसेन और अर्जुनके आघातोंसे पिस गये थे। उनके कारण पाण्डवोंका आगे बढ़ना अत्यन्त दुष्कर हो गया था ।। रथमार्ग ततश्षुक्रे भीमसेनो महाबल:

nātiprasiddheva gatiḥ pāṇḍavānām ajāyata | rathamārgaṃ tataḥ śukre bhīmaseno mahābalaḥ ||

Sinabi ni Sañjaya: Ang pagsulong ng mga Pāṇḍava ay tila nag-alinlangan at nahadlangan. Sa paligid ay nakahandusay ang malalaking elepanteng tila mga bundok, nadurog sa mga hampas nina Bhīmasena at Arjuna; kaya’t ang pag-abante ay naging lubhang mahirap. Noon, si Bhīmasena na makapangyarihan ay naglinis ng daan para sa mga karwahe.
