शल्यवधे कौरवसेनाभङ्गः, भीमस्य गदायुद्धं, दुर्योधनस्य समाह्वानम्

एते विनिहता: सर्वे प्रस्कन्ना: पाण्डवाहिनीम् । दुर्योधनने कहा--मैंने पहले ही इन्हें बहुत मना किया था, परंतु इन लोगोंने मेरी बात नहीं मानी और पाण्डवसेनामें घुसकर ये प्राय: सब-के-सब मारे गये ।।
ete vinihatāḥ sarve praskannāḥ pāṇḍavāhinīm |
Sinabi ni Duryodhana: “Napatay na silang lahat, sapagkat padalus-dalos silang sumuong sa hanay ng hukbo ng mga Pāṇḍava. Matindi ko na silang pinayuhan noon, ngunit hindi nila dininig ang aking payo; pagpasok nila sa hanay ng kaaway, halos silang lahat ay pinuksa.”
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical burden of leadership and the cost of disregarding prudent counsel: rash valor without discipline and obedience leads to needless destruction, even in a dharma-governed war.
Duryodhana laments that his warriors, ignoring his earlier warning, charged into the Pāṇḍava formation and were largely slain; it sets a tone of frustration and impending collapse within the Kaurava side.
