Duryodhana’s Final Condition, Lamentation, and the Night’s Report
अवाप्ता: क्रतवो मुख्या बहवो भूरिदक्षिणा: । “आपके ही प्रसादसे मित्रों और बन्धु-बान्धवोंसहित हमलोगोंने प्रचुर दक्षिणाओंसे सम्पन्न अनेक मुख्य-मुख्य यज्ञोंका अनुष्ठान किया है
sañjaya uvāca | avāptāḥ kratavo mukhyā bahavo bhūridakṣiṇāḥ |
Wika ni Sanjaya: “Sa biyaya ninyo, kami—kasama ang aming mga kaibigan at kamag-anak—ay nakapagsagawa ng maraming dakilang paghahandog (yajña), na sagana sa dakṣiṇā na kaloob sa mga pari.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical ideal of gratitude and the kingly duty of supporting dharmic rites: prosperity and merit are framed as arising from a patron’s favor, and that favor is expressed through properly conducted sacrifices and generous dakṣiṇā to officiants.
Sanjaya reports a statement of acknowledgment: the speaker credits another’s grace/support for enabling the performance of many major yajñas with abundant gifts, emphasizing past prosperity and religious accomplishment amid the grim context of the Sauptika Parva.
