Aśvatthāmā’s Stuti of Rudra and Śiva’s Empowerment (सौप्तिकपर्व, अध्याय ७)
महाभूतगणैर्भुड्धक्ते भूतभव्यभवत्प्रभु: । वे महाभूतगण भगवान् शिवके आत्मस्वरूप हैं, उनके तथा पार्वतीदेवीके साथ भूत, वर्तमान और भविष्यके स्वामी महेश्वर यज्ञ-भाग ग्रहण करते हैं ।। नानावादित्रहसितक्ष्वेडितोत्क्रुष्टगर्जितै:
mahābhūta-gaṇair baddhakte bhūta-bhavya-bhavat-prabhuḥ | te mahābhūta-gaṇā bhagavān śivasya ātma-svarūpāḥ, teṣāṃ ca pārvatī-devyā saha bhūta-vartamāna-bhaviṣyatām īśvaro maheśvaraḥ yajña-bhāgaṃ gṛhṇāti || nānā-vāditra-hasita-kṣveḍitotkruṣṭa-garjitaiḥ
Wika ni Sañjaya: Napalilibutan siya ng mga pangkat ng dakilang mga elemento—na sa katotohanan ay mga anyo mismo ng Mapalad na Panginoong Śiva—tinanggap ni Maheśvara, ang panginoon ng nakaraan, kasalukuyan, at hinaharap, ang nararapat na bahagi niya sa handog, kasama ang Diyosa Pārvatī. Sa paligid ay umuugong ang sari-saring tugtugin at magugulong sigaw—tawa, sipol na tawag, hiyaw, at dagundong—na nagpapahayag ng nakapanghihilakbot na pagdatal ng Panginoon.
संजय उवाच
The verse emphasizes Śiva’s cosmic sovereignty and the principle of rightful offering: the Lord who governs time and existence receives the due share of sacrifice, underscoring reverence, ritual propriety, and alignment with cosmic order.
Sañjaya describes a theophanic scene: Śiva, accompanied by Pārvatī and surrounded by elemental hosts, accepts the sacrificial portion while the atmosphere fills with loud, varied sounds—music and cries—signaling divine presence and grandeur.
