Sauptika-parva Adhyāya 13 — Bhīmasena’s Pursuit of Drauṇi and the Release of a Divine Astra

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the kṣatriya ethos of confronting an enemy directly—issuing a clear challenge rather than striking unseen—while also hinting at the moral strain of continued violence in the grim aftermath of war.

Vaiśampāyana narrates that Bhīma, described as mighty-armed, rushes forward and shouts “Stand! Stand!”—a battlefield command challenging the opponent to stop and face him.
