Book 10, Adhyāya 12: Aśvatthāmā’s Request for the Cakra and the Brahmaśiras Context
समानव्रतचारिण्यां रुक्मिण्यां योडन्वजायत । सनत्कुमारस्तेजस्वी प्रद्युम्नो नाम मे सुत:
samānavratacāriṇyāṁ rukmiṇyāṁ yo ’nvajāyata | sanatkumāras tejasvī pradyumno nāma me sutaḥ ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “Mula kay Rukmiṇī, na tumupad sa kaparehong mga panata at disiplina, isinilang ang isang anak na nagliliwanag—si Sanatkumāra (na nagkatawang-tao)—na ang pangalan ay Pradyumna, aking anak.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ideal of shared vows and disciplined conduct within marriage (samānavrata), presenting such harmony as a fertile ground for auspicious lineage and spiritual brilliance.
Vaiśampāyana states that from Rukmiṇī—described as sharing the same vows—was born the radiant Pradyumna, identified with Sanatkumāra, emphasizing his exalted nature and lineage.
