Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Counsel on Restraint and the Pāṇḍavas’ Authorized Return (धृतराष्ट्र-उपदेशः)

Speech uttered under the intoxication of gambling is portrayed as delusive and unreliable; dharmic judgment should not be guided by reckless talk born of addiction and excitement.
In the dice-game context of the Sabha Parva, the speaker addresses Yudhiṣṭhira and characterizes gamblers as becoming frenzied and babbling; the point is to frame such utterances as empty and not reflective of truth or proper conduct.
