Rājasūyābhiṣeka-darśana: Duryodhana’s Observation of the Consecration
शयनानि महाहाणि योषितश्ष मनोरमा: । गुणवन्ति च वेश्मानि विहाराश्च यथासुखम्
vaiśampāyana uvāca | śayanāni mahārhāṇi yoṣitaś ca manoramāḥ | guṇavanti ca veśmāni vihārāś ca yathāsukham ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “Mamahaling higaan, kaakit-akit na mga dalaga, mga tahanang ganap ang kaginhawaan, at mga harding pamasyalan na nagbibigay-lugod ayon sa nais—gaya ng sa mga diyos, ang lahat ng ito’y tiyak na maaabot mo sa isang salita lamang ng utos. O anak kong di-matitinag, bakit ka nagluluksa na parang dukha?”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
External abundance—luxury, sensual pleasures, and royal comforts—does not automatically remove inner sorrow; the verse implicitly critiques attachment and points to the mismatch between power/wealth and mental contentment.
The speaker lists the readily available royal pleasures and comforts that the addressed prince can obtain by mere command, then rebukes him for grieving as though he were helpless or impoverished.
