Jarāsandha’s fall, liberation of kings, and request for support
अस्मांस्तदेनो गच्छेद्धि कृत॑ बार्हद्रथ त्वया । वयं हि शक्ता धर्मस्य रक्षणे धर्मचारिण:,बृहद्रथकुमार! तुम्हारे द्वारा किया हुआ यह पाप हम सब लोगोंपर लागू होगा; क्योंकि हम धर्मकी रक्षा करनेमें समर्थ और धर्मका पालन करनेवाले हैं
asmāṁs tad eno gacched dhi kṛtaṁ bārhadratha tvayā | vayaṁ hi śaktā dharmasya rakṣaṇe dharmacāriṇaḥ, bṛhadrathakumāra |
O anak ni Bṛhadratha, ang kasalanan ng gawang ito na iyong ginagawa ay tunay na babagsak din sa amin. Sapagkat kami’y may kakayahang mag-ingat ng dharma at kami’y namumuhay ayon sa dharma; kaya hindi kami maaaring tumayo lamang habang ang kamalian ay ginagawa sa aming harapan.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
Those who have the power and duty to uphold dharma share moral responsibility if they allow wrongdoing to occur; inaction can make the righteous complicit in another’s sin.
Kṛṣṇa addresses a prince of the Bṛhadratha line, warning that the wrongful act the prince is about to commit will implicate others present as well, because they are obligated and able to protect dharma and cannot permit adharma to proceed unchecked.
