Mahāprasthānika-parva Adhyāya 2: The Northward March, Sight of Himavat and Meru, and the Sequential Falls
वैशम्पायन उवाच एवमुकक््त्वानवेक्ष्यैनां ययौ भरतसत्तम: । समाधाय मनो धीमान् धर्मात्मा पुरुषर्षभ:
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: evam uktvān avekṣyaināṃ yayau bharatasattamaḥ | samādhāya mano dhīmān dharmātmā puruṣarṣabhaḥ ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Pagkasabi nito, ang pinakamainam sa angkan ng Bharata ay nagpatuloy nang hindi man lamang lumingon sa kanya. Si Yudhiṣṭhira, ang marunong at may kaluluwang nakaugat sa dharma, ay pinatatag ang isip sa pagninilay at nagpatuloy sa paglakad.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights steadfastness in dharma through mental composure and detachment: once a righteous decision is made, one should proceed without being pulled back by emotion or attachment, keeping the mind collected (samādhāya manaḥ).
After speaking, Yudhiṣṭhira continues onward on the great final journey, not turning to look at the woman referred to (enām). The narrator emphasizes his disciplined mind and dharmic resolve as he proceeds.
