Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how disciplined prowess in a dharmic war can decisively break an army’s cohesion. Ethically, it underscores the harsh reality of kṣatriya-duty: when battle is joined, skill and resolve can determine outcomes, and the collapse of morale is as consequential as physical defeat.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Arjuna, identified by his diadem, has overwhelmed the opposing host with a storm of arrows—crushing, piercing, and scattering the troops so that they flee in all directions.
