Educational Q&A

The verse highlights that dharma in war is not abstract: even a righteous king must reckon with bodily suffering. It points to the ethical gravity of violence and the human limits that shape decisions on the battlefield.

Sañjaya reports that Yudhiṣṭhira has been heavily struck and is in severe pain. He withdraws roughly a krośa from the main fighting and stands apart, indicating a temporary retreat due to injury.
