कर्णनिधनश्रवणम् — Hearing of Karṇa’s Fall and Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Lament
अहितान्येव चीर्णानि तेषां तत् फलमागतम्,राजन्! आपने राज्यकी कामना रखनेवाले अपने पुत्रोंक हितकी इच्छा रखते हुए सदा उन पाण्डवोंके अहित ही किये हैं; आपके उन्हीं कर्मोका यह फल प्राप्त हुआ है
ahitāny eva cīrṇāni teṣāṃ tat phalam āgatam, rājan! āpane rājyakī kāmanā rakhanevāle apane putroṃ ke hitakī icchā rakhate hue sadā un pāṇḍavoṃ ke ahit hī kiye haiṃ; āpake unhīṃ karmoṃ kā yaha phala prāpta huā hai.
Wika ni Sañjaya: “O Hari, pawang kasamaan lamang ang kanilang ginawa, at ngayo’y dumating na ang bunga nito. Bagaman ninanais mo ang ikabubuti ng iyong mga anak at minimithi ang kaharian, paulit-ulit kang kumilos laban sa mga Pāṇḍava; ang kinalabasan ngayon ay ang hinog na bunga ng mismong mga gawaing iyon.”
