कर्णेन सैन्यस्थापनं तथा नानायुद्धसमवायः

Karna Reforms the Host and Multiple Duels Converge

प्रतिरब्धास्तु वाहीका न च केचन मद्रका: । राजन! यद्यपि यवनजातीय म्लेच्छ सभी उपायोंसे बात समझ लेनेवाले और विशेषत: शूर होते हैं

pratirabdhāstu vāhīkā na ca kecana madrakāḥ | rājan! yadyapi yavanajātīyā mlecchāḥ sarvopāyair bātaṃ samajha lenevāle viśeṣataḥ śūrā bhavanti, tathāpi svayaṃ-kalpita-saṃjñāsu eva adhikaṃ āgrahaṃ kurvanti (vaidika-dharmaṃ na manyante) | anyadeśīyāḥ lokāḥ anuktaṃ vacanaṃ na budhyante, kintu vāhīkadeśīyāḥ sarvakarmāṇi viparītāni eva kurvanti (teṣāṃ buddhiḥ viparītā eva) | madradeśasya kecana nivāsinaḥ tu tathāvidhā bhavanti yat kiñcid api na budhyante

Sinabi ni Karna: “Matigas ang ulo ng mga Vāhīka, at may ilan sa mga Madraka na hindi rin mas mabuti. O Hari, bagaman ang mga mleccha na ipinanganak sa lahing Yavana ay mabilis umunawa sa mga bagay sa lahat ng paraan at lalo pang matatapang, mahigpit naman silang kumakapit sa mga pangalan at kaugaliang sila mismo ang umimbento, at tinatanggihan ang daang Veda. Ang mga tao sa ibang lupain ay hindi nauunawaan ang hindi sinasabi; ngunit ang mga Vāhīka ay ginagawa ang lahat nang pabaligtad, at pati ang kanilang pag-unawa ay baligtad. At sa mga Madra, may ilan pang walang nauunawaan kahit ano.”
