Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the grim ethical tension of war: once battle is joined, a warrior’s wrath and duty (kṣatriya-dharma) can become an unstoppable force, producing swift destruction. It invites reflection on how powerful emotions, when fused with sanctioned violence, magnify the consequences of conflict.

Sañjaya reports that Bhīma, furious and moving with great speed, storms into the enemy elephant division and begins killing them—overwhelming the elephant-corps and sending its fighters to death.
