तेन सम्यक्‌ प्रणीतानि शरजालानि मारिष । प्रतिजग्राह गाड़ेयः शतशो5थ सहस्रश:,आर्य! उनके द्वारा अच्छी तरह चलाये हुए सैकड़ों और हजारों बाणोंके समूहको गंगानन्दन भीष्मने ग्रहण कर लिया (अपने बाणोंद्वारा विफल कर दिया)

tena samyak praṇītāni śarajālāni māriṣa | pratijagrāha gāḍeyaḥ śataśo 'tha sahasraśaḥ ||

Sinabi ni Sañjaya: O kagalang-galang, tinanggap—at sa katunayan ay pinawalang-bisa—ni Bhīṣma na isinilang sa Gaṅgā ang mga bugso ng palaso na mahusay na pinakawalan ng kanyang katunggali, daan-daan at saka libu-libo, sa pamamagitan ng pagsalubong dito ng sarili niyang mga palaso at pag-alis ng bisa ng mga iyon. Ipinakikita ng tagpong ito ang disiplinadong pagkamahusay sa sandata sa digmaan, kung saan ang galing ay pinipigil ng tungkulin at itinuturo ng pangangailangan ng labanan, hindi ng pansariling poot.
