कलिड्जप्रभवां चैव मांसशोणितकर्दमाम्‌ | रुधिरस्यन्दिनीं तत्र भीम: प्रावर्तयन्नदीम्‌

Transliteration

kaliṅga-prabhavāṃ caiva māṃsa-śoṇita-kardamām | rudhira-syandinīṃ tatra bhīmaḥ prāvartayannadīm ||

Translation

Sinabi ni Sañjaya: Doon, pinakilos ni Bhīma ang isang kakila-kilabot na ilog na wari’y sumisibol mula mismo sa hukbo ng Kaliṅga—ang putik nito’y laman at dugo, at ang agos nito’y daloy ng pulang pagdanak. Ipinapakita ng larawang ito ang sindak na moral ng digmaan: ang kagitingan ay hindi na maihihiwalay sa pagpatay, at ang larangan ay nagiging tanawin ng pagkawasak ng dangal at katarungan.
