Bhīṣma–Dhanaṃjaya Duel and the Opening Clash
अभिशद्यत ततो व्यूहस्तस्मिन् वीरसमागमे । सर्वेषामेव सैन्यानामासीद् व्यतिकरो महान्,वीरोंके इस संघर्षमें सेनाओंका व्यूह भंग हो गया और सभी सैनिकोंका आपसमें महान् सम्मिश्रण हो गया
abhiśadyata tato vyūhas tasmin vīrasamāgame | sarveṣām eva sainyānām āsīd vyatikaro mahān ||
Sinabi ni Sañjaya: Pagkaraan, sa pagtitipon ng mga bayani, nabasag ang ayos ng hanay-pandigma; at sa lahat ng hukbo ay sumiklab ang isang malaking paghahalo—magkaibigan at kaaway ay nagsiksikan sa magulong sagupaan sa malapitan, habang ang kaayusan ay napalitan ng hilaw na lakas ng digmaan.
