Garuḍa Array and the Ardhacandra Counter-Formation
पाण्डवानामनीकानि वध्यमानानि संयुगे । श्वेतो गाड़ेयमुत्सूज्य तव पुत्रस्य वाहिनीम्,इति श्रीमहाभारते भीष्मपर्वणि भीष्मवधपर्वणि श्वेतवधे अष्टचत्वारिंशो5ध्याय: ।।
sañjaya uvāca |
pāṇḍavānām anīkāni vadhyamānāni saṃyuge |
śveto gāḍeyam utsṛjya tava putrasya vāhinīm ||
Sinabi ni Sañjaya: Sa kasagsagan ng labanan, ang mga hanay ng Pāṇḍava ay pinupuksa sa digmaan. Nang ilunsad nila si Śveta, anak ni Gāḍi, laban sa hukbo ng iyong anak, lalo pa nilang pinasidhi ang sagupaan—kaya kumalat sa hanay ng Kaurava ang pagpatay at pagkalansag.
संजय उवाच
Even within kṣatriya-dharma, war is shown as a realm where strategy and momentum decide outcomes, yet the narration keeps the ethical gravity visible: armies are ‘being slain’ as a consequence of choices and leadership, reminding the listener that victory is purchased through suffering.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Pāṇḍava battle-divisions are being heavily attacked in the fight; in response, they deploy the warrior Śveta (called Gāḍeya) against Duryodhana’s forces, intensifying the clash and contributing to the Kaurava army’s distress.
