Educational Q&A

Even when one intellectually knows reality (bhāva/abhāva), self-interest can still produce delusion; Dhṛtarāṣṭra admits a worldly entanglement—his identity and choices are shaped by the same forces that mislead society.

Dhṛtarāṣṭra responds to his interlocutor (addressed as ‘tāta’), claiming he understands the principles being discussed, yet confesses that worldly self-interest causes confusion, and he too should be regarded as deeply enmeshed in the world’s nature.
