न चक्कुस्ते रुजं तस्य स्वर्णपड्खा: शिलाशिता: । महारथी शिखण्डीने जिन महान् बाणोंका प्रयोग किया था
sañjaya uvāca | na cākkuṣṭe rujaṃ tasya svarṇapakṣāḥ śilāśitāḥ |
Sinabi ni Sañjaya: Gayunman, ang mga palasong iyon—may pakpak na ginto at hinasa sa bato—ay hindi nakapaglikha ng sugat ni kirot man sa katawan ni Bhīṣma. Ipinakikita ng salaysay ang pambihirang katatagan at wari’y banal na pag-iingat sa paninindigan ni Bhīṣma sa gitna ng dahas ng digmaan, kung saan ang husay sa pakikidigma lamang ay hindi sapat laban sa buhay na nakaugat sa panata, dharma, at itinakdang panahon.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights that external force and refined weaponry do not necessarily prevail over one established in dharma, vow, and destined time; moral-spiritual stature and providential order can render mere technique ineffective.
Sañjaya reports that even though the arrows (described as golden-fletched and stone-sharpened) were expertly made and shot, they failed to cause Bhīṣma any wound or pain, emphasizing his exceptional resilience on the battlefield.
